I'm an associate professor at the University of New England in Biddeford; originally from Nova Scotia, I've been in Maine (and an ACS member) since 2008. A physical organic chemist by training, I primarily teach sophomore organic chemistry lecture and lab, as well as our upper-level mechanistic organic chemistry course. My research interests involve using photochemistry to learn about the properties of novel materials for green chemistry and nanotechnology applications and I keenly engage undergraduate students in my research activities. I'm the faculty advisor for our student chapter of the American Chemical Society and I've recently become more involved with the Undergraduate Programs Office at ACS, helping review student chapter reports and grant applications. I've also been involved with ACS' Science Coaches program.
